What is MELP?

This project supports young business minded individuals aged 18 to 25 in learning about the world of business, exploring what self-employment means and ultimately supporting them to establish their business.

MELP incorporates activities that develop key skills i.e. business understanding, employability skills, teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving and financial literacy. Young people will be taken through a series of workshops and seminars.

We support young people with business ideas in the following categories:

  • Markets & Retail
  • Social Enterprise
  • Culture & Creative

Please note that other business ideas are also encouraged.

Assessment will start on the 4th and 6th June, 2018.

The programme will commence on Monday 11th June and run for 5 weeks.

The pitch will take place on Thursday 5th July 2018 and up to 2 winners will receive a seed fund of £2,000 to get their business idea off the ground.

Participants will also be able to take part in New Youthquake on Saturday 7th July 2018 at Portobello and Golborne Road Market.
