An exciting opportunity for a Youth Support Worker.

About the role:

The Youth Support Workers will deliver high quality, open access programmes and events which meet the personal, social and educational development needs of children and young people from multi-cultural, inner-city communities.

You will deliver centre-based activity programmes for children and young people aged 9 -19 years and up to 25 years for those with a disability, to help them attain their potential and develop their personal and social skills. You will work with targeted and hard to reach, vulnerable children and young people on both an individual and group basis, ensuring that they have full access to activities.

About you:

The successful candidate will hold a level 2 qualification in Youth and Community work and will have experience of working with disadvantaged and hard to reach young people in a Centre based and / or Detached Youth Work setting. You will be used to evidencing and reporting outcomes and will have experience of working within an Urban multicultural environment. You will also have an understanding of policies and procedures when working with young people in a Centre based setting including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Child Protection.

Additionally, you will have an understanding of the issues affecting young people in an inner-city environment and the ability to supervise young people in the development of a practical skill based activity such as Arts and Crafts, Sporting activity and / or Media activity. You will be skilled in empathising and building rapport with young people and will have experience of maintaining accurate written records of work. Experience of working with disabled young people would be an advantage, as would a level 3 qualification in Youth and Community work.
